arrivederci francesco

February 18, 2009

As some of you may know we lost Francesco Puccioni, better known as Mike Francis, at the end of January.  I will admit to not digging his stuff first time I heard it, and being late at the gates of his greatness.  It was only after he died that I started to listen a little deeper and found some beautiful gems.  One of which is today’s track, and currently my favourite record.  All his songs have a sweet pop melody, and a gentle, but right on, groove that makes people smile and spin in circles on the dancefloor.

I played out a couple of times last week and ended up playing this record four times in total.  At the end of the gig Friday, with the house lights up, I stuck ‘Night Time Lady’ on again  and the reaction was great.  No-one knew what it was but they all danced just the same.  Even the manager managed to crack a smile.

Read more on the man and his music here.

And enjoy the next five minutes of happiness…
