brothers on the side…talking in stereo
December 21, 2007
It is an honour to host an interview with West Coast blog legend Talking In Stereo. His infectious passion for all things dub disco has inspired me many times to dig deeper, and helped to point out some great new music. His dedication and hard work in blogging has shown me how blogs should be run, and his guest DJ mixes are always one step ahead.

CONTRIBUTORS:
Me Myself and I.
DATE OF FIRST POST?
December 13th 2006 (just had my one year anniversary).
HOW OFTEN DO YOU POST?
I try and do at least two posts a week sometimes more sometimes less. It depends on how much time I have to burn vinyl.
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU STOP THE BLOG?
Probably if the interactions with visitors stopped. I have “met” some great people through it.
HYPE MACHINE OR EL.BOWS?
Google is the only blog search I need.
BLOGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE
WHAT IS BEHIND YOUR BLOG NAME?
It’s is a derivation from “She Talks in Stereo” which is a song on the Valley Girl soundtrack by Gary Myrick and the Figures.
THE BLOG IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN?
My job.
THE BLOG IS LESS IMPORTANT THAN?
My interweb show.
A POST YOU ARE DAMN PROUD OF?
There are honestly so many. If I had to pick one it would be the Ronny and Renzo exclusive mix. Being huge fans of theirs it was awesome to host their first online mix and share their great vibe with others.
WHY MP3S, AND WHY NOW?
MP3’s are a very convenient way to share music with others and take advantage of the technology we have at our disposal.
WHAT BAND OR PRODUCER IS REALLY DOING IT FOR YOU RIGHT NOW?
Studio
OTHER THAN LIKING THEIR TRACK WHAT WOULD A BAND OR LABEL HAVE TO GIVE YOU TO MAKE YOU POST ON THEM?
Send hugs and kisses.
IF YOU COULD GET ANY WRITER OR MUSIC EVENT EXCLUSIVE FOR YOUR BLOG, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
It would be great to get a piece from Greg Wilson, with his encyclopaedic knowledge of dance music history.

AND FINALLY
A TRACK FOR THE READERS OF INNERSOUNDS…
I had a really hard time picking one so here are two. For the first one I went deep into the records archives to choose a track from one of my all time favourite production teams the Idjut Boys who consistently champion the dubby aesthetic I am really into. This track ‘Pay the Fare’ from their full length album ‘Life the Shoeing You Deserve’ really started my love affair with disco dub and all thing Idjut. This is an amazing track that creates a very deep dub influenced ride. This track really brings back great memories and I am stoked to share it.
The second track reflects two sides of my musical personality its Osunlade vs. Phil Collins, In The Air Tonight. Not usually one for mash-ups. But this one hits all the right spots for me. You can’t go wrong with Osunalde’s afro house percussion with Phil’s great atmospheric vocals over the top. Definitely a stormer of a tune. Peace.
