elis regina & jair rodrigues

June 27, 2008

From the album “2 na Bossa”, a live show recorded at the Paramount Theatre in Sao Paulo, from a NINE hour show on the 10th April 1965. It must have been one hell of a gig!

Elis Regina & Jair Rodrigues - Reza

PS - this is my favourite version…I won’t go into why, just let you pick your own. Hope you enjoyed the selections…

Cheers, love a bit of “Reza” too. Think my personal fave versions are by the Ira Kris Group on MPS (from the lp “Jazzanova”) and John Hendricks’ live take.

Pretty sure I’ve got both of them ripped somewhere - happy to upload them and post the links in here if you want to check them out. Really are two great versions for Reza completists!

The Ira Kris is a nice uptempo instrumental version that really works on out for 6 odd minutes, and the John Hendricks adds a little twist by chucking in some English lyrics and, er, jazzy whistling! In fact I’m gonna go dig them out now and upload them, will leave links in the comments later.
