The one good thing about music is when it hits you feel no pain.
The other good thing is there is so much out there one day you can feel like you’ve heard everything, and you’re uninspired and you want to dump your records in the street. Then you hear something new, the air changes, the blood rises, the ears pin back, and half a day at work is sneaking listens to the “new” track (from 1976 in this case)…and you’re back in love again, back in the room.
I’ve already decided I’m not going to buy this straight away through discogs, I’m going to go back to looking for things in the real world. Shouldn’t be too hard to find if I look in the right places. Nice to have something to look for again. Not that I have “everything”, just that I am bad with remembering what I’m looking for – which is not a bad problem to have when it comes to records.
By the way, some fascinating ‘digging’ stories here and here.
Spent days reading them and enjoying the geeky level of detail and obvious passion these guys have for what they do.
I’m not into digging to that level (I like a tune, but I won’t drive 500 miles and spend a week’s holiday a year looking for one) nor am I into comics, but the stories are really innocent and talk about a different time that we probably won’t see again.
I just don’t think it is possible to be as passionate as those old-schoolers when you have instant access to everything.
We don’t have to wait on anything.
And that’s probably not good for the soul…
