hold on to your dreams

October 30, 2007

What do you get if you take a pre-stadium-rock The Edge of U2, a post-punk Jah Wobble, a couple of Kraut rock legends, and an up-and-coming hipster New York producer and DJ?

Pass?

Okay, how about if you add lyrics by Arthur ‘Is It All Over My Face?’ Russell…?

No?

Recorded in 1983 in London’s The Fallout Shelter…??

Answer:

Possibly the greatest super-group that never was…

Jah Wobble, The Edge, Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit, Francois Kervorkian & Arthur Russell present:

Hold On To Your Dreams

I found this for 50p in a plain white sleeve years ago. Mint condition. I didn’t read the label close enough to see who anyone was, but I knew Francois K as a DJ, and I thought 1983 looked like a pretty interesting year for music.

wow i feel really stupid. i had that record for a long time. got it for like a buck, and never thought i liked it so i sold it. i swear i don’t remember this song on it. hopefully it’s just filed away somewhere where i can’t find it right now.

That’s exactly how I felt when I heard the track on the mix. Fortunately my copy was still lying around and not yet sold.

Hope you manage to find your copy!

Just goes to show everything sounds good eventually!
