I’ve had a little talk…
January 23, 2008

Not sure how many of you will have heard this…
Nowadays with a blog on every corner, dusty old classics don’t stay hid for long. People who’ve never set foot in a mouldy vinyl store basement will have Croatian versions of James Brown or rare soul classics clogging up their playlists.
So forgive me if this already been out there before.
It’s just this is an old tune that it took me years to find. One of those records that feels better because you want it more, and sounds better because I broke a sweat over it.
Posting it now for all those friends and readers coming to the end of their New Year Detox programmes. Whether it was cigarettes or alcohol or other, if you’re starting to lose your enthusiasm for fruit juice, and if your fervour for fags is coming back…playlist this track and stick it on repeat…it might help…
I’ve had a little talk with my stomach,
And I’ve decided to treat him right,
We’ve made a mutual agreement,
And I think at last we’ve both seen the light… etc…
Special dedication: this goes out to Amy Winehouse, in need of some real friends and a little good advice. If she did a cover of this song when she sorts herself out, that would be amazing…
Horace Silver – I’ve Had A Little Talk

man, i loves me some andy bey. i’ve held 2 of the 3 of this series in my hand but had to put them back because they’re always so damn expensive. ended up getting a 2 cd comp of all three. Silver ‘n Percussion’s one of my fave albums. big vocal choirs all over the place. seriously cheesy covers though of horace wearing a dashiki on one side and native american garb on the back.
