loose knuckles

April 24, 2008

Back in the day DJs used to change tempo a few times a night, bring it down abit so couples could get a bit closer. You don’t often hear that anymore. The tempo just builds all night. Clearing the floor and starting to build up the atmosphere again is something of a lost art in 2008.

Anyway, here’s the perfect tune to drop when you want to let the floor get personal

Loose Ends - Hangin’ On A String (Frankie Knuckles mix)

This is one of them tunes that reminds me of a time and place. The Original is still the best version although Mr Knuckles done a fair job trying to make it a bit Housey. This track sounded great in my Mk III Ford Cortina. No Subs in them days. Had some Pioneer rear shelf pod speakers and 3 pairs in the doors With a 25 watt per channel graphic. Those 808’s sounded sweet. Loose ends made some great boogie tunes although one of them couldn’t dance to save his life(just check any videos)

You obviously never went to the Kat Klub @ Bar Rumba circa 1997…….agree with the Grooverman “The Original” is still the tune to “bring it down abit”.

    still nice rework though..

as a dj who can change tempo throughout the night frankie is a master.

i saw him and morales on a def mix tour yonks ago at cream. knuckles spent 3 hours playing before morales, he was fucking mustard. up and down, up and down, up and down. by the time morales came on the roof was ready to come off.

Ah, but the Frankie mix that really does the business is the Reprise on the B side of the promo 12″ http://www.discogs.com/release/357786
