my turn to love you

October 31, 2007

Cracking good love song in a disco stylee.

The more I dig into Eddy Grant’s back catalogue the more gems I turn up. He could get his own week on here. I’ve been toying with that idea. A Gil Scott-Heron Week, a Roy Ayers Week, an Eddy Grant week etc.

But it feels slightly patronising, it is better that you people out there find your own cuts by a favourite artist. I’m not trying to teach or preach. The blog is just random selections from my vinyl shelf. Reflecting the mood I was in when I recorded the vinyl to mp3.

Trying too hard can be worse than not trying enough. So I’ll just post Eddy, Roy and Gil’s stuff – but not all in one week…

As to this track today, first of all you can still pick it up for pennies if you look around online – it is not as popular as it should be. And second, word of warning – there are two 12″ versions out there. One is live and you really don’t need it…studio version everytime.
