Fans of sweet, smooth, soulful disco might not appreciate this track. But sometimes a track has to get really ugly to show its beauty.
A greater man than me once said that you need the ugly bits in a song to really appreciate the good bits, which is why sometimes edits are pointless. They take out the tacky boring parts and as a result they lose the tension in the piece.
Anyway, enough of me theorising…this track is quite rough around the edges, and for those not accustomed to Squarepusher’s sound you might find it an assault on your ears…he’s a maverick alright…if you can stick with it, keep listening to this track until about three minutes in, as for me, it’s one of the most beautiful pay-offs in all music.
I won’t give it away, just listen and hear for yourselves.

Here, here, bravo and well said>
love this song, i’ve laid it over s o m a n y downtempo tracks doubletime style. i’ve always thought there was a certain jaco feel there… all that fretless rubbery action and four chords of awesome. yeah, it rules.
squarepusher’s finest moment, if you ask me.
