this side of forever
May 23, 2010

I know we have a lot of catching up to do. First up I have changed jobs, secondly I have been planning the next trip to Japan – lift off on Friday – and finally I have had my nose in seasons one and two of Mad Men. All of which has meant the blog has got a little left behind. Apologies. But thanks for checking back. As long term innersounds listeners will know things have been weird for me at work for a while now – which I signposted with this update so giving in my notice was a moment to savour. I’ve got the holiday coming up then the new job so things may well be quiet around here for a while. Especially now the London sun is shining. Though I will definitely be doing a Tokyo Drifter part three when I get back from Japan. (Part one is on mixcloud here).
Then there are a couple of mixes to do for other blogs/internet peeps. One for the ever excellent Test Pressing, which I have been struggling with, as the standard is so high. Another for DeepFrequency.com – oh and many thanks all for making the last one I did for Cosmic Connections / Disco Jesus the most listened show on their network in April. I am sure it must have been some of you guys creating that. Thanks. For those that missed it, I’ve just uploaded part one here, and part two here.
What else? Oh yeah, I am in talks to get a refresh of the blog design. Has been about two years in the making, but we are getting closer. Don Froth’s new single is full term and ready to drop on Phonica Records any day now, limited vinyl etc etc you know the way we do. And I think that might be about it…
Except to talk about today’s track. Yasuko Agawa, famous amongst low-slung late-night jazz groovers for LA Nights, which I could have chosen – or even from the same album for a cover of Skindo-Le-Le (which is on the Tokyo Drifter mix), however, checking over the album once more tonight I found ‘This Side of Forever’ and felt the mood perfectly matched where I am at right now.
Dozo…

Success in your new job, Jez. Relax & enjoy your holiday in the meantime.
Just checking out season one of Mad Men myself. Love that cool 60′s vibe.
Thank you sir. Appreciate the good wishes. As soon as the season finished I want to watch the whole thing again. Have you checked the Guardian online site? They have a blog for each of the episodes and go through a lot of the themes. Deep shizzle.
Jez
Thought you’d be a breaking bad man myself..lol.
Anyway ‘ave a great trip and all the best in the newbie….not an Ad agency by any chance?
