I walked down the stairs of Plastic People after my own 4 hour gig tired and bleary eyed, but excited about the music. I was visiting Voices for the first time in a couple of years, and I knew their sounds would inspire me. Cedric, Alex and John run a deep and open musical gathering. Inviting interesting guests and playing music new and old on a tweaked sound system to a roomful of tuned ears and dancing feet.
Tonight was residents only and the music was just right. Within moments of getting to the dance floor, during John’s warm up set, I heard Grace Jones and then this track and my energy started to pick up…
Within the space of a couple of hours my record ‘wants list’ was growing longer than I could ever hope to afford. Which along with tired feet and a damp shirt is always a sign of a good night for me.
